Kwanzaa is a Swahili word that means "first" and signifies the first fruits of the harvest.
Created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in the 1960’s, Kwanzaa is a week-long annual celebration that is held in the United States and parts of the Africa Diaspora to honor our African heritage and African-American culture.
Kwanzaa is observed from December 26 to January 1.
Seven core principles are celebrated during this holiday - a different one for each day.

The Kwanzaa soap set comes with three distinct bars which were inspired by my favorite of the seven principles.

I went deep in my soul to create soaps that embody Peace, Unity and Cooperation. As we close out the year 2020 I believe that we all need as much of these qualities as we can get...

Kuumba - (Creativity) This principal is celebrated on the 6th day of Kwanzaa.
Kuumba states that we are to do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful than when we inherited it. This message resonates with me greatly.
This bold bar is scented with notes of Basil, Lemongrass and Vetiver.

Umoja - This is the first principle and it means Unity. Umoja stresses the importance of togetherness for the family and the community, reflected in the African saying, “I am We or I am because We are.”
These round bars are scented with Black Amber and Musk.

Imani- This is the seventh and final principle. It means faith. Imani states that we are to believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle. It’s scented with notes of Succulence, Musk and Oakmoss.

Saponified oils of Coconut, Olive, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and Haitian Castor. Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Activated Charcoal, Mica, Fragrance Oils

Haitian Castor Oil (Lwil Maskriti) is high in vitamin E, minerals, proteins, omega 6, and other beneficial fatty acids including ricinoleic acid which plays a key role in drawing moisture to the skin. I have yet to meet a Haitian that doesn't have a bottle or two of this cultural staple in their home.
